Daffodil Pill is a high-energy, neo-psychedelic quartet hailing from Wrocław, Poland. The band—comprised of Filip Dudek (lyrics, vocals, electric guitar, synthesizers, and special effects), Dawid Stawiarz (electric guitar and backing vocals), Mateusz Wróblewski (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Adam Chmura (drums and album graphics)—released Live at NCPP in May 2026 via Interstellar Smoke Records.

Spanning eight lengthy tracks, Live at NCPP captures the raw, high-energy evolution of the quartet. It was recorded live at the National Centre of Polish Song (Narodowe Centrum Polskiej Piosenki) in Opole. Most of the album consists of brand-new compositions, with only two tracks carried over from their 2024 studio debut (which was produced by Marcin Bors).

The entire recording delivers an uncompromising dose of live energy, blending surf rock, neo-psychedelia, garage rock, and even touches of Latin rock. Crucially, the record functions as a single living organism. The live performance was processed through an authentic analog cassette tape to achieve a vintage saturation and grit that beautifully balances live precision. It is wonderful to see the band abandon sterile studio perfection in favor of this visceral, breathing energy. All the tracks blend seamlessly into one another without interruption, creating a trance-like, continuous trip that is a true pleasure to listen to.

Musically, the album thrives on striking contrasts. It opens with the trance-like “Loopin’ Back,” drifts through the dreamlike “Spirit Stretcher,” and introduces the hippie-tradition-rooted “Summer Children.” The second half of the opus takes a distinctly darker turn with “Gilgamei” and “Ancient Thoughts,” before concluding with the fast, gritty finale, “Wanna Feel It.” If I had to pick the standout highlights of Live at NCPP, they would be:
• “Summer Children”: A dreamy, hippie-infused track that serves as an intentional homage to the Flower Power era and vintage 1960s/1970s psychedelic bands like The Doors.
• “Wanna Feel It”: The lead single and closing track. This song highlights the band’s existential and sonic pivot, perfectly merging the driving cadence of surf rock with the atmospheric haze of neo-psychedelia.

The striking purple and yellow abstract psychedelic cover art was created by the band’s own drummer, Adam Chmura. The graphic design mirrors the band’s cosmic, high-energy sonic shift and garage-psych style using bold, vibrant geometric patterns and hypnotic visuals.

In summary, Live at NCPP is a perfectly executed live album performed with immense precision and a clear artistic vision. It showcases a band successfully blending surf-rock momentum with garage rawness and unpredictable time signatures—all driven by fuzzed-out guitars, vintage synths, and relentless drum grooves. Most notably, frontman Filip Dudek frequently trades his synthesizers for an electric guitar, shifting the band’s core sound toward faster tempos, raw improvisation, and odd time signatures.
