Rats Of Gomorrah – Infectious Vermin
29th May 2025Vomitive Skull – Colapso

Label: Iron Blood and Death Corporation / Release date: 15th June 2023
Released almost two years ago, but landed on my doorstep relatively recently, another killer release from Mexican-based label – Iron Blood and Death Corporation. I’m talking of seven-tracker EP from Chilean quartet metal named Vomitive Skull. Band’s line-up consists of; Gabriel Andres Arancibia Betancourt (bass), Rodrigo Gutierrez (drums), Mauricio Godoy (guitar) and Angelo (guitar & vocals).
On this 2023 EP entitled Colapso, Vomitive Skull brings us some serious thrashcore, where all the lyrics are in Spanish.
Tracklist:
1. 4:20
2. Traidores
3. Kamikaze
4. Condición Mortal
5. Resistencia
6. Subestimaron La Ira
7. Fusilamiento
Beginning of the EP, a short intro “4:20” (a common code word for cannabis use) already hits hard enough to leave you fully prepared for everything to come. This opening track is all about aggressiveness and full speed metal attack. What we get next is the track named “Traidores”, which is really a first real full-throttle speed & thrash metal sonic assault. Next one is called “Kamikaze” is epitome and a perfect example of their style of playing; featuring fast tempos, complex guitar riffs, high-register guitar solos, double bass drumming (incorporating elements like dissonance and occasional blast beats), and some groovy bass lines. At top of that we hear some varied vocals that are characterized by aggressive, shouting, and sometimes screaming parts. His vocals range from raw and unrefined to more melodic and technically skilled. This honest yet higly skilled approach is representative for the remaining four tracks. Something all four have in common are the detailing sounds and influences in each song.
Recorded at ‘Kubo Records’, mixed, and mastered at ‘Organic Wave Studios’ in Antofagasta, (northern Chile) the production of Colapso is incredibly powerful, with crystal-clear and well-balanced sound.
I know that most older thrash metal fans will get worried by classifications of this band as thrashcore, but I can assure them one thing; Vomitive Skull will not disappoint thrash worshippers, whether old or new school. While listening to this debut EP for multiple times now, I felt as their aggressive sound, with politically- and society aware lyrics, perfectly encapsulate the feelings of Chilean and South American people. As such, Vomitive Skull is a shining gem among all the other mediocre bands out there, listeners will not be disappointed with the listen to Colapso.
Lastly, Colapso is a more than promising debut, thus every fan of classic, late 80s, early 90s thrash/speed metal should check it out by visiting their bandcamp page.
