First let me apologize for this late review of a material released nearly a year and a half ago, but I believe it’s better late than never. In the last year or so, we’ve presented our readers to Austrian hard-core scene. This time is no exception, as we once again introduced to two hard-core bands; Ruhr, Germany based quartet Eyes of Tomorrow and Vienna, Austria based four-piece Perfect Sky. These two bands (and good friends) have united together for the split album entitled, Songs of Faith and Demolition. It’s been released as hand-numbered limited edition of 300 pieces (mine is no. 213), so I’m not even sure if you can still your hands on this rather interesting hard-core split release.

Songs Of Faith And Demolition CD comes as 6 panel digi-pack with few lyrics and band photos printed inside. Eyes of Tomorrow performs five speedy, bludgeoning and classic hardcore songs, dealing with the unbreakable mental resilience and years of struggles in the streets. It’s maybe not the most revolutionary nor the most innovative piece of music, but their sound is powerful, loud, fast and delivered with an attitude. Eyes of Tomorrow is recommended for fans of Biohazard and Sick of it All.

Perfect Sky presents themselves in the best possible way, with a slightly rougher attitude throughout six (hardcore) tracks that carry a bit more brutal and metal elements. Lyrically they deal with subjects of terrorism, corruption and enslavement of minds. The vocals are scratchy and guttural, while their overall approach is more brutal and ‘thrashier’, compared to their collegues and friends from Eyes of Tomorrow. Esp. recommended for fans of Hatebreed and Agnostic Front.

In conclusion; what both acts have in common is their passion and dedication to the classic hardcore. Eyes of Tomorrow and Perfect Sky (with pretty optimistic moniker for two hardcore bands?!) are two hardcore acts that are pretty similar in the style and passion for hardcore, but with a slightly different sonic outcome. Due to the short nature of the songs, there’s absolutely no time for boredom here. If you can’t find it via their label, I recommend you to listen to it online. It doesn’t get much better than this when it comes to European hardcore.
