Yardfield Colony is a five-piece death metal combo from Chemnitz, Germany. The band is comprised of following members; Joachim (vocals), Holger (guitars), Patrick (guitar), Till (bass) and Kristian (drums).
Since 2012 Yardfield Colony have been delivering uncompromising death metal, showcasing their raw power through countless live shows marked by relentless energy. In 2017 the band released their debut EP The Procession, which helped the band establishing and cementing their signature sound. In 2020 they released their official full-length entitled The Absorption, where their style was solidified. Both melody and sheer brutality reached new heights, culminating in a demanding and cohesive work of art. More than five years since its predecessor, this hard-hitting quintet strikes back again with their sophomore full-length The Doomestication.

The Doomestication contains eleven tracks where the band combines sheer aggression with melody, grooves and intricate rhythms, while technical prowess is matched by tight & purposeful songwriting. In other words; their sound is filled with countless modern groovy rhythms, powerful melodies and a playful bass. Their songs are typically built around by the sound wall of heavily distorted guitars, low-pitched and growled harsh, aggressive and versatile vocals, morbid lyrics, exceptionally fast-paced rhythms and melodies, frequent blast beats on drums, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes. These things showcase that they’ve taken another leap in technical playing, being more mature and confident both when it comes to songwriting but also technical delivery.
If we look deeper into the lyrical content we will learn that the album dives deep into the human psyche. According to the band itself; ‘its central theme weaves together the concepts of domestication and the impending doom it entails, forming a cohesive narrative delivered through vocals that are more aggressive and versatile than ever before’.
While a lot of modern death metal is over-produced, highly compressed and very loud, but I would say that the production on The Doomestication is massive, yet ensuring that songs are not only more diverse, but also direct, accessible and listenable.
With their new album The Doomestication, the band has taken their sound to the next level, sharpening it into a refined and modern form. Highly recommended for worshippers of a relentless and uncompromising death metal and the bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, Hate Eternal, Rage, Shadow of Intent, Asphyx, Malevolent Creation etc.
