Miasmes is a black metal horde formed in 2021, bringing together three musicians with highly diverse underground backgrounds: G. (bass/vocals, ex-Ritualization, Antaeus live, ex-Seth live), K. (guitar, ex-Como Muertos), and C. (drums).

Their sophomore full-length album, Violence, Blasphème et Pourriture, is a raw, aggressive masterpiece set for release on September 18, 2026, via Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions. The album features 11 tracks—including a fierce Motörhead cover of “In the Name of Tragedy”—built entirely on biting tremolo riffs, aggressive blast beats, and visceral, French-language vocals.

On this sophomore record, the unholy French trio successfully combines raw, second-wave black metal with dirty punk, crust, and heavy rock ‘n’ roll/Motörhead-style grooves. It is an incredibly intense release, proving noticeably more direct, brutal, and radical than their 2023 debut, Répugnance. Packed with numerous tempo shifts, Miasmes takes no prisoners, tearing through the 11 tracks in a solid, breathless half-hour. Yet, despite all the rampant intensity and aggression, the band places great importance on the quality and variety of their songwriting.

The instrumentation strikes a perfect balance between two worlds: the guitars retain the cold, buzzy, and distant tone of the early 90s second wave, the low-end delivers a muddier, bass-heavy tone borrowed straight from crust punk, driven by G.’s thick, granitic basslines, the vocals feature harsh, echoed shrieks and raw, throat-shredding growls rather than polished clean vocals, and finally the drums shifting seamlessly between classic, high-speed black metal blast-beats and vividly hammering rhythms that drive the velocity of the album.

Two key tracks perfectly anchor the spirit of this release:

1. “Nihil”: A short, violent rush of dark energy. It functions as a fast, dirty, and unpolished extreme metal piece driven by a strong punk attitude.
2. “Vomi”: A furious, hyper-fast track that beautifully showcases the album’s abrasive, compact aggression.

The production here is intentionally unpolished and abrasive, clearly recorded independently to retain maximum underground grit. The sound across Violence, Blasphème et Pourriture stands as a direct rejection of modern cleanliness and sterile studio production.

This auditory filth is visually matched by artist Nicko Metalink. The cover art perfectly aligns with the album’s aggressive, dirty, and raw aesthetic, visually bringing out the grim themes of decay and inner violence.

The verdict; if you love a blend of blackened crust and punk-infused black metal—and regularly listen to bands like Celtic Frost, Doom, Carpathian Forest, Venom, Darkthrone, Bathory, and notably Motörhead—then this fast, uncompromising, and raw album from Miasmes will perfectly fit your taste.
