Label: Self released/Hard Life Promotion / Release date: 18th April 2025
Despite the fact title says ‘No Regrets’ I have to say that my only regret is that I’ve not listened to this release before! I’m referring to a debut album of Inherited, a young and aggressive band hailing from The Netherlands. Line-up responsible for the creation of this debut nine-tracker is comprised of; Lucas Camonier (bass), Neill Ray (drums), Marvin Wesdorp (guitars), Midas Giele (guitars) and Jamie Versprille (vocals). In our reviews we are often aiming to avoid gender-, nationality- nor age biases, but this time we make an exception due to the very young age of band members, between just 16 and 21 that we think is worth mentioning. Despite of their age, their talents and musical skills are undisputed and quite excellent taken everything into consideration. On No Regrets, this promising Dutch quintet handles their instruments (and vocal duties too!) comparable to scene veterans.
Tracklist for No Regrets:
01. No Regrets
02. Urban Guerilla
03. Spiritual Butcher
04. Hard Life
05. Purge
06. Shitface
07. GFY
08. Failed to Resist
09. Denial
Throughout these nine tracks, they blend thrash and groove metal with the relentless energy of a hardcore bands. In other words; ‘imagine Slayer meeting Hatebreed in a dark alley’ – it means a raw, ferocious, and unstoppable sonic attack of crushing riffs, pounding grooves, and ‘an intensity that hits like a freight train’.
Apart from the youthful energy, the band lies their main focus on old-school aggression while creating a wall of sound that ignites chaos. Two tracks that are especially worth recommending, a cuts above the rest, are “Shitface” (with intense riffing and memorable groove) and the final song named “Denial” – mainly due to the adrenaline rush, a blasting out of the speakers yet being a song that, at least partly, deviate from the classic thrash-core formula characterized by its overall aggression and fast tempo. Another note-worthy moment is “Spiritual Butcher,” where in particular I enjoyed the thrash-rooted opening riffing, a deathly vocal screams and overall a driving head-banging energy.
The band won the national Metal Battle and earned the honor of performing at the legendary Wacken Open Air, solidifying their reputation as one of the most promising acts in the metal scene who are here to dominate for many years to come. I’m already looking forward to their sophomore full-length record.
No Regrets is an independent release, distributed via Hard Life Promotion, and I sincerely hope you’ll give it a few spins, because if you like a fusion of old-school thrash and groove metal with a modern twist, it is totally worth your attention! Especially recommended for fans of Sepultura, Slayer, Pantera, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Machine Head, Soulfly and similar old-school thrash/hard-core bands. Don’t hesitate to visit their bandcamp and/or listen to the whole release below.
