    Hermetic Evolution – Re:Evolution - 70%

Hermetic Evolution is a four-piece Polish band, formed in 2011 in the city of Rzeszów. The band, emerging from the roots of Hermetic Insanity, has released four albums to their name, namely; Kajdany Istnienia (EP 2012), H 2.0: Deus Ex Machina (LP 2013), H 3.0: Ecce Homo (EP 2020), and this most recent, Re:Evolution (EP 2025).

Since this was my first encounter with Hermetic Evolution, I had to make some search and liten to some of their previous releases. For those of you still unfamiliar with their sound, I can tell that it’s characterized by its unique hybrid of metal and electronic music. Re:Evolution is their latest release feauturing six songs. It features two brand new tracks and four of their greatest hits from the fifteenth years long repertoire. It’s both a tribute to their history and the opening of a new chapter following the band’s reactivation. Meanwhile, Re:Evolution also represents the return of the band with a refreshed line-up, featuring a new vocalist and bassist who have brought fresh energy to their sound.

Their sound is a rather unique hybrid known for its experimental vocals, low-tuned guitars, numerous electronic elements. The structure of the songs features some dynamic shifts, moving from intense metal passages to electronic-focused sections and vice versa. The lyrical themes (although in their native language) explore some philosophical, transhumanist and dystopian subjects. Re:Evolution features a great production and execution from all four band members, with main focus on the dynamics, ensuring the sound is rich with velocity variations, while avoiding a robotic feel.

Since their hybrid of heavy metal and electronic music convey intense emotions, such as aggression and raw energy, I think that the fusion is appealing to fans of both styles. Alongside the album release, the quartet have premiered a music video for the track “Krev” (Blood), which is now available via YouTube link below.

I very much appreciate their authenticity and ‘outside-the-box thinking’ – Hermetic Evolution is definitely a breath of fresh air on the Polish music scene! Supporting underground is very important, therefore I strongly encourage you to listen, or even better, purchase Re:Evolution on physical media.
