Poland’s melodic black metal collective Hegeroth just announced the release of their sixth full-length, Soaked in Rot, set for release on 25th March 2026. It comes as a follow-up to a fifth full-length from 2023 fittingly entitled Disintegration. Thus, Soaked in Rot consists of nine tracks and marks the sixth full-length release in the band’s discography.
Tracklist:
1. You May Call Me A Witch
2. The Act Of Lust
3. Błogosławieni Ślepi
4. The Nails
5. Hypocrisy Demands Blood
6. Święte Szlachtowanie
7. The Degrees
8. The Swing
9. Gdybym Istniał
Since its foundation in 2010 (in Upper Silesia, Poland) Hegeroth has built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of black metal while remaining rooted in the genre’s raw intensity. Therefore, the key values in their music remain the same; energy, diversity, variability and multi-layeredness.
Speaking in overall terms, the lyrical content on Soaked In Rot mock the mindlessness, dogmatism and meanness resulting from ‘the imposition of only the right model of thinking and religious oppression’. Diverse, high-speed, intense and complex structures of the nine songs presented here are emphasized by the title Soaked In Rot, which depicts the omnipresent decay and hypocrisy of the followers of a dogmatic world vision.
Compared to the aforementioned 2023 predecessor Disintegration, the band’s sound has evolved with multi-layered compositions combining melody, disharmony, aggression, and relentless speed while at the same time staying true to their early symphonic and melodic black metal foundations. From the very first second of the opening “You May Call Me A Witch” we get bombarded by overwhelming numerous lethal riffs, creating a fantastic combination of melody and brutality. The drums are a war machine, alternating between merciless explosive beats and more measured rhythms. The vocals of Chors are alternating between a high-pitched scream and a deep guttural. Finally we have the bass, while traditional black metal often buries the bass to emphasize treble-heavy and cold guitar tones, Hegeroth relies on the bass to add depth, warmth and harmonic complexity to their sound.
“The Nails” (listen below) is the third single taken from Soaked in Rot, on which the band states: ‘If you’re not afraid of calculations exceeding 30, or you’re not familiar with the term Triclavianism, we warmly invite you to check out our latest single, The Nails’. In other words; “The Nails” touches on themes of dogma, sarcastically questioning sacred relics and blind faith. “Święte Szlachtowanie” (“Holy Slaughter”) on the other hand, is a track exploring the darkness of the late Middle Ages and the brutal conflicts over faith that shaped ancient Europe.
The biggest pros of Hegeroth, and their latest opus Soaked In Rot, is its ability to embrace, and a powerful capacity to accept, a wide spectrum of musical expression, including various different elements, while maintaining true to their musical roots and preserving the foundational elements. It’s a cohesive material, technically impeccable and with a powerful and disturbingly relevant message. This new album can also be seen as a continuation of their aggressive and melodic style.
Soaked in Rot was recorded, mixed and mastered by Bene (guitars & bass) at ‘HHSoundLab Studios’, and the final result is the modern, crystal clear and powerful production, giving each instrument space to breathe and destroy. The cover artwork and full visual layout were created by renowned artist Maciej Kamuda, known for his work with bands such as Blut Aus Nord, Nunslaughter and Master.
Soaked In Rot will be released as an independent release, and it comes in digital format and jewelcase CD, with orders currently available via Bandcamp.
