In short; Gloria in Profundis is another album of half an hour of sonic depravity and abomination. It landed three years after 2022 debut entitled Descent into Madness. If we dig a bit deeper we will experience the suffocating, dense and oppressive atmosphere on this album. Apart from this one can hear some pretty demonic, vile and disgusting (in a good way when dealing with this kind of music!) vocals, hellish and apocalyptic drumming with numerous savage blast beats, and some pretty sick and some dissonant & infernal riffing. This abrasive (vocal) style is a core element of their death metal, contributing to the band’s characteristic dark and obscene subject matter. Meanwhile, their sound is is not all about madness and brutality as it’s actually technical and intricate too, with difficult transitions and complex musical structures.

Gloria in Profundis has been produced by M. Lobier, engineered by M. Lobier at ‘Ellipsis Audio’, France, and mixed & mastered by Haldor Grunberg at ‘Satanic Audio’, Poland. Thus, the production is sharp and potent, ensuring every detail is clear and fits in perfectly. There are no overproduced studio tricks, just pure unfiltered darkness and a very consistent old-school/classic death metal approach. The album is accompanied by an incredible, gruesome and hellish artwork, created by Paolo Girardi. It seems as he was influenced by the lyrical themes of darkness, violence, and the occult that are to be heard on this album?!

Lastly; even though relatively short record, Gloria in Profundis has much to offer. With the release of their second full-lenght Gloria in Profundis this crazy French duo demonstrate that they are serious about their music, and it demands respect. Highly recommended for worshippers of Morbid Angel, Immolation, Carcass, Exhumed, Beherit, Bolt Thrower etc.
