Black Eucharist – Inn Of The Vaticide

Black Eucharist, formerly known as Black Ejaculate, is a US-based Black Metal trio that has been around since 2018. Three years as Black Ejaculate (during which they released a single Demo), the remaining under their new moniker. And in order to celebrate said new name, they went ahead and released their first Full-length release; The ever-blasphemous approach urging them to name it Inn Of The Vaticide.

Musically, Black Eucharist delivers exactly what they put on the tin: Anti-christian messages, blasphemy and themes of heavy perversion go hand in hand with Second Wave Black Metal after all. That being said, they do have a more modern approach on certain tracks (”Drowned Flock” being the most prominent example that springs to mind). Faster paced at the expense of being less distorted, leaving breathing room for the blast beats to truly shine. Overall a very interesting experience, spread across eight total tracks.

I am somewhat reminded of what I said about Angrrsth yesterday – There is something to be said about a pure, unmodified approach to the source material if you will. And Black Eucharist, despite missing the ‘Polish’ touch that I praised so heavily yesterday, is still a band to keep an eye on as they gain more experience as a band, more aggression as performers.

All in all, nearly forty minutes of old-school American Black Metal that I would recommend to fans of Grand Belial’s Key, Spite and Profanatica.
