Aeveris is a powerhouse Belgian melodic metalcore quintet that emerged in 2021, uniting veterans from established underground acts like Fields of Troy, Thorium, Lethal Injury, Always Fallen, and Horizons. The lineup—comprised of Louis Van der Linden (drums), Jeffrey Behiels (guitar), Dempsey Derous (guitar), Pieter Nyckees (bass), and Wouter Van Kerschaver (vocals)—joined forces to fuse an eclectic background of melodic riffing, technical drumbeats, and dynamic vocal techniques into a sound that is both punishingly heavy and undeniably catchy.
Following their highly acclaimed debut full-length, White Elephant, the band spent the early part of 2026 rolling out their sophomore concept in two chapters: Act I: Roots in February and Act II: Revelations in May. Now, those pieces are officially united on their self-released second full-length album, Imminence. The decision to weave these two EPs together proves to be the album’s greatest structural strength; the tracks transition seamlessly into one another, creating a incredibly fluid and enjoyable listening experience.
Across these ten tracks, Aeveris delivers a heavy, nostalgic, and incredibly well-crafted melodic metalcore punch. The performance thrives on a brilliant balance of instruments: the drummer Louis Van der Linden drives the tracks forward with a dynamic momentum that locks perfectly with Pieter Nyckees’ foundational basslines, anchoring the low-end weight of the heavy riffs. Jeffrey Behiels and Dempsey Derous lay down a relentless assault of heavy, flared riffs and soaring melodic leads. Frontman Wouter Van Kerschaver absolutely steals the spotlight. He showcases incredible vocal diversity by seamlessly alternating between piercing fry screams, deep false-chord grunts, gutturals, and pristine, soaring clean melodies.
Lyrically, Imminence digs deep into serious, introspective themes of human vulnerability, isolation, societal pressure, and the grueling struggle to protect one’s personal identity. Right from the convincing opener, “The Mask,” it is immediately clear that the band has taken a massive step forward. The music is noticeably faster, more technical, and far more intense than their debut. From there, the record’s highlights include “Downfall”—a driving track that masterfully blends metalcore with thrash and melodic death metal elements—and the cinematic, melodic masterpiece “And Then There Were None” (listen below).
Despite being an independent, self-released effort, the production on Imminence sounds exceptionally sharp, sleek, contemporary, and polished. The visual presentation is equally intentional. The striking cover art and graphic layout were created by Louis Soenens (the band’s original frontman who stepped down from vocal duties in late 2023) through his firm, ‘Atomic Design Co‘. The artwork serves as a purposeful, moody extension of the album’s core themes, reflecting the internal isolation and the search for purpose detailed in the lyrics.
The verdict; Imminence is a beautiful love letter to the golden era of early-2000s metalcore. It is highly recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, At the Gates, Slipknot, In Flames, and Trivium. Aeveris has crafted a remarkably confident sophomore record that cements their status as a band to watch. For more updates and information on this promising Belgian outfit, head over to their official Facebook page.
