Aura Mystique, 2007

Malleus Maleficarum is formed back in now far away 1997 on the ruins of Autopsy. The band had in its early years recorded a few demo and CD-R releases and is now ready for its first full-length album through Aura Mystique (not to be mistaken, this is not band’s first album, but third!).

The album has this straight self destructive black metal title Nothinglefttofightfor containing ten tracks of very dark and very melancholic black metal. As the band underline it a few times before; its music is not dealing with typical black metal concepts such as NS; paganism, Satanism or another similar shit. The band is playing just the music they like and they happen to be about nihilism, depression, discomfort, suicidal thoughts etc. Something we all to a certain extend can relate to.

If you’re used to listen to this awesome band before you maybe get disappointed this time, as they are playing much faster, more extreme, darker and brutal, and not so much death/thrash as before.

Their lyrics are most in their native French language and one of my favourites happened to be “Les Traces” and “Deviant”.

To sum things up a bit; if you’re into nihilistic, doom, brutal and hateful towards the life black metal, I can highly recommend you to listen to this album. Don’t ask shit about lyrics, about production, nor about the concept, just listen, and take drugs and fucking blow your head away with this sonic screaming assault.
