I truly believe that not a single guy who call him/herself a metal fan doesn’t know of Iced Earth and their career so far, so instead of common introduction to the band and its previous achievements I’ll start immediately with review of Iced Earth’ new album Framing Armageddon.
Album consists of none less than 19 tracks having all the necessary ingredients to be one of the candidates for the album of the year. Mr. Jon Schaffer comes up with some very strong hooks, melodies and above all tremendous guitar lines. This is actually only a Part 1, with part two following next year. The lyrics deal with Sci-fi themes and mankind’s invasion of the earth. Not only the fact that this is a concept album with great and original story, but all the songs can stand on its own, with strong introductions and strong lyrics. Each one of them can serve as an appetizer for what is to come later. Another important aspect of this album is the appearance of Tim Owens, it seems like without him this release wouldn’t come as near as perfect as it has reached now. His vocals are like from another planet followed by many harmonies and orchestrated choir vocals.
It is hard to point out the highlights of this album as they are all almost equally good, but after a few listenings I have yet chosen my favourites: “When Stars Collide (Born is He)” with its massive vocals, rhythmic guitars and few other choruses as well – simply impressive. Other tracks worth listening over and over again without risking of getting tired and monotonous are: “The Awakening” and “Ten Thousand Strong”. Esp. last mentioned song almost got me screaming and wondering ‘how is it possible to make such a good and catchy song, after so many years in the business?’
Production part is as you may expect it – amazing, with all instruments coming in front and creating this over all fantastic atmosphere. With Iced Earth’ we are used to get only the best and with Framing Armageddon – Something Wicked, Part 1 we’ve just got the best.
The only negative thing I can say (and it is not band’s fault) is the voice of Jon Schaffer interrupting each of the songs talking about this new release. I understand that record company has the right to protect its music and artists in order to make money, but sometimes it can almost get too much, risking ruining the whole pleasure of listening to a masterpiece like this one by these American giants. www.icedearth.com

Hey Bato.... Iced Earth are an american band not german! It's bad enough that very few really good metal bands come from america, but let's not start giving the germans credit for iced earth!!
