Great Eastern European country of Poland is best known for it’s brutal death metal, but for a change Devilish Impressions is a band that is playing avant-garde black/death metal or to be more precise symphonic black with elements of death metal something like Dimmu Borgir, at least when talking technical level. Plurima Mortis Imago contains 9 well written and interesting compositions, plus a special bonus video clip for “SataniChaoSymphony”. The vocals are raging & growled but also with some clean singing here and there. The guitars are more death metal orientated with massive death metal riffs and fast blasts. Drumming is decent, but bass is almost not to hear anywhere. There are also beautiful keyboard parts to be heard as well, it is nice giving this dark, sick and furious atmosphere which is needed for this kind of releases. The music in general is good and a little bit different from what I’ve expected. It is obvious that the band had been playing for almost ten years now, very skilled musicians, very professional done job. I’ll recommend this cd for fans of above mentioned Dimmu Borgir, but also for the fans of Emperor, Cradle of Filth, Borknagar etc. Pleasant reading for any fan of symphonic extreme black metal. Together with this Promo CD I’ve also received a DVD with band’s performance, but more on that in the next couple of days. More info on this release to be found at: www.devilish-impressions.com or/and at the label site: www.conquerrec.com
