Self-released, 2012
Simon Miller, rhythm guitarist & vocalist, of a four-piece Hard Rock band MG & The Juggernaut sent me their latest EP for a review. The band was formed in 2009 in Bournemouth, United Kingdom and this is their new Demo EP containing only three songs.
Despite of the fact that we are dealing here with some relatively young musicians, the obvious quality and talents are present in their music. Actually, while listening to their latest EP one feels like travelling back in time, back to the early 90s. You only really need three short songs to hear all the enthusiasm, appreciation and love towards this Hard Rock sound. It is powerful and melodic at the same time, yet with this melancholic touch.
EP opens with a song called “Wolves” setting the pace for the rest of the EP. The following track is titled “If This Is Three” being the heaviest song of all three, but still very their recognizable sound. “Punishment (The End)” is slightly similar to the first two, but it has this predominant melancholic feel to it.
This is not band’s first EP and after a few successful EPs and ditto reviews, I hope this English quartet will soon enter the studio in order to record their first full-length. I just can’t wait to hear their adrenaline-filled rock on a full-length opus. Esp. recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Alter Bridge, Coheed & Cambria and similar rock giants.
