Devotion Materialize is the latest opus by the craziest guitarist the great country of Italy has ever produced. Why ‘craziest’ you may ask now? Well on the back cover of this rather good CD you’ll see the picture of Emiliano ‘eating’ his guitar. I guess he’s one of these crazy mother fuckers that you always read of eating, shitting and making love to their guitars. But can this guy play it? I can tell right away, I’m actually a bit surprised, not so much of the fact that he can play, but rather of the fact how he’s playing it. It is strange and weird, but very innovative and original kind of playing. The music that Emilio Sicilia is producing is much more than a usual metal music. It contains elements of flamenco, dance, country, western, hard rock, prog rock, nu-metal, instrumental and heavy fucking metal! It is build up with different special effects, up-tempo parts and fats and boiling guitar riffs, followed very often by metallic voice. The CD, which means all 7 tracks, has very modern sound and great production. To times it reminds me of Steve Vai (my own all-time guitar hero) but also of the likes of Rammstein in a opening song “Cyber Room” and even Meshuggah, Slipknot and other American brutal bands, esp. on a track like “”The New Reality Suite”. This album is in no way a masterpiece, but it sure can serve as a refreshing album unlike most of the other releases pumping out these days. If you’re looking for something different, something unusual and unique then look no further than to Emiliano Sicilia’ second album. For more info: www.emilianosicilia.com
