Babylon Mystery Orchestra is a band/solo project from United States, featured previously on these pages. The Godless, the Godforsaken and the God Damned is his fifth CD and a follow-up to Axis Of Evil. On this new one BMO continues a tradition of creating very politically incorrect lyrics.

The axe man behind this band is Sidney Allen Johnson creating all musical arrangement, lyrics, cover artwork and everything else. Sidney Allen Johnson is not afraid to speak out his mind, also about controversial and politically incorrect issues of religion and politics.

The lyrical content on these new 12 songs is about Holy Bible, its prophecies, but also global warming, social (in) justice, government and even Islam, as exemplified in the closing track “The Twelfth Imam”. In other words; S.A. Johnson takes his decidedly right-wing viewpoint and attacks society that he live sin from all possible directions.

The music is still mostly Heavy/Hard Rock and Gothic Metal, much in the vein of older progressive bands from the 70s and 80s. Pace is rather slow and kind of doomish, but still very entertaining, most so because of the above mentioned lyrics and his controversial views. Meanwhile, there’re some great heavy metal riffs that are predominant on the most of the songs, alongside keys and this dark atmosphere, it sounds simply great.
The vocals are a bit critical as Mr. Johnson seems to talk more than sing, and most of the time it is delivered in this slow and deep tone, almost reminding me of some early Gothic/Doom metal acts like Sisters of Mercy, Type O Negative, Anathema and such.

At few occasions he gives it a little power and aggression, like in the song called “Benai Elohim” (sounds Hebraic to me?!), where he incorporates heavy riffing and crunchy guitar tunes. Of other decent songs I would pinpoint “Viva Cristo Rey!” mostly because of guitar leads and again deep vocals.

I find his approach rather interesting and appealing, even though I do not agree with him on each subject. He dares to question such important issues in the society, but still in a serious and professional manner, unlike many Black Metal bands who’re just shouting and screaming vulgarly about religion and government.

Babylon Mystery Orchestra and Sidney Allen Johnson have one simple mission; to ‘defiantly stand athwart the path of the progressive liberalism’ that has, in his opinion, ‘infested his country and demands it to be stopped’. He definitely has the power in his words; and all I can say at the end of this review is: Listen to the samples and give this guy a chance before you judge his views and opinions. The artistic value of this material should not be underestimated.
