The Italian metal band Loadstar’s debut CD Calls From the Outer Space is an excellent example of strong musicianship but also an excellent example of a lead singer that doesn't fit in with the band.
Loadstar's sound can best be described as a combination of speed, thrash, and classic heavy metal. while it is one of the most musically strong and diverse albums I've heard in a long time it is also has one of the poorest vocals I've heard in a long time. This could have been one hell of an album but the vocals are really out of place compared to the music. His voice is rough, he has a strong accent, and is out of tune many times. But, as I stated before, the album is very strong musically.
Throughout the album you will find different tempos and rhythms, exaggerated bass lines, and powerful drumming. This album is quite varied, slower paced songs intertwined with some fast heavy ones. But, what really stands out the most is the guitar playing. There is some spectacular guitar playing from everyone going on here... and I mean spectacular. Awesome bass lines, lightening fast solos, and excellent transitions between tempos. It's such a shame the vocals take so much away from this album.
