Bad Moon Man Music/Solitude Productions, 2009

Solitude Productions have specialized in releasing a whole bunch of rare and underground metal releases from Eastern Europe. One of those is a Serbian band Tales Of Dark, a group of six musicians delivering their second album entitled Perdition Calls.

Their sound is very much a mix of doom/gothic/death metal with both male and female vocals of one of the best vocalists in Serbia, Jovana Karajanov. Most of the nine songs on this album are of semi-length but one never really gets bored as there’s a big variation and diversity in their music. The music and their rare blend are extraordinary and so is the production. Booklet is filled with fascinating imagery while all the lyrics are also printed inside. It seems that the band and their label have thought of just every detail in order to make this album a pleasure for the listener – something they’ve achieved.

The best thing is that, apart from a few My Dying Bride similarities, this band runs its own agenda, never really copying other bands from the over-crowded Gothic female-fronted scene. Contact info www.talesofdark.org or www.myspace.com/talesofdark
