Kauan's third album entitled Aava Tuulen Maa includes five songs with more than 50 minutes of music. Influenced by nature, this CD is a wonderful relaxing breath of fresh air. The majority of this album is instrumental with the male vocals best described as being an accompaniment to the music. The lyrics are sung in either Finnish or Russian and have mystical saddening undertones. Musically, it is atmospheric, calming, and beautiful. Combining with the piano and violin are the softly played guitar and drums which create melodies that are gentle, dark, and hypnotizing. The subtle darkness and saddening undertones give this album a somewhat sorrowful feel to it.
This isn't your typical doom metal, dark metal, or any other heavy metal for that matter. If you are looking for something heavy this isn't for you. However, if you want something that is relaxing and hypnotizing then this is it. This is definitely a mellow and soothing CD for metal fans. Variety is the spice of life after all...and Kauan has realized it on Aava Tuulen Maa.
