Sidney Allen Johnson just recently sent me this brand new CD from his band Babylon Mystery Orchestra. As it says in the press material, the music of Babylon Mystery Orchestra goes to the very heart of why music is called art. I truly and most honestly agree with this description of BMO’ music. It is just overwhelming and impressive piece of music performed here by Allen Johnson. The sound on The Great Apostasy: A Conspiracy of Satanic Christianity is what I would describe as industrial gothic with rock and metal influences, and most obvious comparisons in this case are to Slovenian’ masters from Laibach. Main lyrical concept on this unusual release is about the degradation of the church with quotes from holy Bible. The music which accompanies this story is very solid, dark and atmospheric. Vocals are also perfect, matching great with the rest of the instruments; pounding drum beats, well balanced guitars from calm to more aggressive sound makes this album very listenable. Production and cover-art are once again excellent. I can only recommend this CD to any fan of biblically inspired stories accompanied with great music.
