Self-released, 2009
The Weeed is an Italian five piece Rock band formed in June of 2002. …And the evening dies is their new offering released just earlier this year. As the band’s singer Monica wrote to me in her promo letter; I’m not sure that The Weed is ‘enough metal’ to be reviewed on the pages of Metal Revolution, but what I know for sure is the fact that bands like The Weed are highly underrated and deserves a lot more attention from what they are getting today.
Their approach to the music they create is very sincere and honest and their enthusiasm is outstanding, even without any major label support. Their music can be characterised as stoner rock accompanied by some heavier rock/metal tunes that are full of energy, furious compositions, changing dynamics & pace and above everything fragile, sexy and delicate voice of their singer Monica Sardella. Her voice is not that much different from the rest of today’s overcrowded rock/Gothic scene, but her voice is strong and passionate. However her vocal abilities couldn’t stay alone without a proper support of her band members who’re for the most part very skilled musicians. Another important detail is the fact that …And the evening dies is freely downloadable from their website www.theweed.it
…And the evening dies is an album that is approachable, listenable and highly enjoyable listening to where all seven songs are equally strong without any fall-outs. Do not hesitate to give them a chance, you won’t get disappointed.
