Self-released, 2008
Our domestic death/metalcore quintet Inimical has recently released their new promotional EP called Fucked up by All Recognition. This six tracks long EP is really a nice and professional work. It has just a perfect production, nice artwork for the cover and inlay. It is a piece of raw, aggressive and fast material and it is obvious that these guys are well skilled musicians. The music has many groove moments, but it is also hostile with aggressive and blasting drumming, brutal and hard riffs and numerous breakdowns. However, I have also a little problem with this release; it has very little variation and almost all of the songs are similar and just sounding the same. It reminds me too much of the likes of The Haunted and other mainly Swedish death metal bands, and it is all good as we are talking here about some kick-ass bands. But the problem is that Inimical doesn’t create anything new but just more or less imitate The Haunted. It is sad fact as these guys can sure play their instruments… I’m looking forward to their next release where they should dare to go their own way and not just play what people expect to hear. The band is in a search for a label, so if you can help please contact: www.inimical.dk or www.myspace.com/inimicaldk
