Eternal Legacy Records/Lugga Music, 5h March 2008
Guardian of Eternity is the third album from Ireland's own Celtic Legacy. The band mix heavy power metal riffing with more traditional Celtic themes. In the finest of Celtic Legacy traditions, the new album kicks off with an instrumental piece “The Sentinel” while the clattering of drums signals the arrival of “Celtica”. Third track is called “Afterworld”, which is an atmospheric mid-tempo song with fresh sounding twin-guitar work. There are numerous tempo changes throughout the whole album, rhythmic guitars with classic guitar sound accompanied by tremendous drumming and great acapella vocals. The music reminds me in general much of the Queensryche, Helloween (esp. the riffing) as well as the early Iron Maiden, best emphasised in a track “Absent Friends”, very much an up-tempo song. The whole thing ends up with a closing title track “Guardian of Eternity”, being an epic song of total running time of more than 11 minutes.
If you’re into classic rock/metal much with inspiration from above mentioned acts of the 80s this is the right choice for you. This Promo CD comes in a very nice package, with promo material, nice cover artwork and all other necessary information you can imagine. Band contact: www.celtic-legacy.com or www.luggamusic.com
